Cristiano Ronaldo has dethroned English football superstar David Beckham to become the world's wealthiest footballer with a fortune of 122 million. Beckham was named last year's wealtiest footballer - who earned 165 million pounds.

The Portuguese star has reportedly got a lucrative Nike deal and signed a new 76 million pounds contract with Real Madrid last summer to add to his fortune.

Wayne Rooney is the fourth richest footballer with the annual earning of 69-million pounds according to Daily Star.

Ronaldo is followed in the second place by Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, whose earnings are 120.5 million pound courtesy of a lot of endorsements.

Samuel Eto'o - the Chelsea striker - is third in place with a fortune of 70 million pounds.
